This is a short film contest, so entries should run 2 to 30 minutes including credits.

We are daring you to move us. That's why we welcome films that test the boundaries of comfort, but entries that exhibit gratuitously violent, sexual, or otherwise offensive content will not be accepted.

All genres and film types (e.g., documentary, animated film, narrative) are welcome.

Please format DVDs to Region 1 and be sure to test them in a player before submitting. Label DVDs with the filmmaker's name, title of the film, and contact information in permanent marker. Please do not use adhesive stickers or labels.

We reserve the right to screen chosen entries on the day of the film festival. Once submitted, filmmakers will not have the option to withdraw their entries from the contest.

All judges and panelists are prohibited from submitting films.

Screenplays

Oftentimes we are so driven by goals, to-do lists, and destinations that we lose sight of the adventure that happens in the journey. Regardless of where we may land, how will you take us there?

Screenplays must be for a short film, 3-10 pages in length.

If your screenplay wins, the Mosaic LA Film Team will produce the film within a $5000 budget.

Submission Deadlines and Fees

Currently, we accept payment by check or money order made out to "Mosaic" (please write MOLAFF in the memo line). Payments are non-refundable and submissions will not be returned. Submission dates and entry fees are as follows:

Early submissions - $40

January 1st through February 1st

Standard submissions - $55

February 2nd through March 31st

Late submissions - $65

April 1st through April 25th

Extended late submission
for withoutabox members - $75

April 26th through April 30th

Submissions must be RECEIVED by the appropriate deadline to be considered.

Entries will not be accepted after April 30th, and no refunds will be given for films received after. Sorry, no exceptions.

Withoutabox members receive a $5 discount on early, standard and late submissions.
